Everything you need to get up and running, now in one place

Fellow translators,

If you've been curious about CafeTran Espresso but weren't sure where to begin, I've put together a comprehensive beginner's tutorial that walks you through everything from first launch to your first finished translation.

WHAT'S INSIDE
The tutorial covers the full beginner journey in plain language — no prior CAT tool experience needed.

- Setting up your workspace
- Importing and managing projects
- Working with translation memories
- Using the glossary effectively
- Auto-assembling matches
- QA and finalising your file
- Tips for a smooth workflow
- Common beginner pitfalls to avoid

CafeTran has a reputation for being powerful but a little daunting at first glance. This guide aims to change that — step by step, with screenshots and clear explanations, so you can feel confident and productive from day one.

Ready to brew your first translation?

Here's the complete beginner's tutorial as a PDF file:

Feel free to share it with colleagues who are considering making the switch.

Missing screenshots? Mar 9

Hi,

It seems to me that the PDF file doesn't contain any screenshots.

These are replaced with question marks against a blue background.

Was the PDF file supposed to initially have screenshots in it?

Hello Éric,

These will be added in the 2nd edition.

Until then, I hope that the first draft is useful.
