Perhaps arbitrary or administrative detention, although the latter is glossed on Wikipedia as اعتقال اداري. Are they legally equivalent?

Custodial Sanction / Alternative Custodial Sanction

Explanation:
It doesn't have an English (Anglo-Saxon Law) direct equivalent because it is originally from French law, which is the source of legislation in most Arab countries (Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, etc.).

French: Contrainte judiciaire
German: Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe
https://context.reverso.net/الترجمة/الإنجليزية-الألمانية/cus...

"In France, judicial coercion consists of imprisoning or keeping in detention a person who is solvent for non-payment of certain fines, to which he has been condemned by the public treasury or the customs administration. It was previously called constraint by body."

I see.. Maybe as a legal term, it doesn't have to be too literal, just as the French and German equivalents. You may also find these alternatives useful:
Preventive detention
A custodial penalty

Asker: Thank you for this information, I see the issue. My only worry is that custodial sanction is too broad and doesn't convey the adjective تكديري. Moreover, custodial sanction has quite a few results on RC with جزاءات احتجازية.

corrective detention / short-term imprisonment

Explanation:
Or simply detention
This link says a person sentenced to corrective detention should not be confined with serious offenders
https://maqam.najah.edu/legislation/33/item/2516
تتراوح مدة الحبس التكديري بين أربع وعشرين ساعة وأسبوع، وتنفذ في المحكوم عليهم في أماكن غير الأماكن المخصصة بالمحكوم عليهم بعقوبات جنائية أو جنحية ما أمكن.

So it is short-term imprisonment for petty offenses and unlike administrative detention it is not left to the discretion of public servants or officers

It is translated here as short-term imprisonment

The term تكديري refers to the category العقوبات التكديرية, which is the lowest on the scale of gravity, followed by العقوبات الجنحية then العقوبات الجنائية أو الجزائية for the most serious crimes (felonies).

In Morocco, minor offenses are called مخالفات, from "contraventions" in French. Three terms are used for imprisonment, which correspond more or less to the crime categories:
Detention = اعتقال : from 24 hours to 1 month
Imprisonment = حبس : from 1 month to 5 years
Imprisonment = سجن : from 5 years to 30 years or life

Since there is no drop-in equivalent for حبس تكديري in English, we could simply use "detention" or add an adjective that refers to the crime category (minor/petty offense) or the duration: correctional/disciplinary/short-term...

exasperating imprisonment / periodic imprisonment (without work release)

Explanation:
As an option:
As per Jordanian penal code الحبس التكديري has been translated into "exasperating imprisonment" as in article 16, 23 and 72.
http://www.ahtnc.org.jo/sites/default/files/penal_code.pdf
https://www.mohamah.net/law/نصوص-و-مواد-قانون-العقوبات-الأرد...
https://www.almaany.com/ar/dict/ar-en/تكدير/

However this type of punishment is similar to periodic imprisonment but is it straight time without work release or doing weekends.

That translator sure invented it for a reason which is the same reason you are here that there is no equivalent term in English.

Now I have the Lebanese penal code , its translator was much better to overcome this problem by translating it as "imprisonment for a petty offence"
See Article 60
http://www.vertic.org/media/National Legislation/Lebanon/LB_...

I hope this will help.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you. Unfortunately, there are no other instances of this term online outside of that translation of the Jordanian penal code and references to it. I think that individual translator may have just invented it.
