Italian term or phrase: polisensibile
Hi all,

I'm struggling to narrow down the meaning of the word "polisensibile" in this context:

"Batteriemia a partenza urinaria sostenuta da Escherichia coli polisensibile: Emocolture: positive per Escherichia coli polisensibile"

When I search Google for "polisensibile", the results I find concern allergies and sensitivities in that sense. I've tried "multi/poli sensitive" in relation to bacteria and it brings up results featuring the term "multidrug resistant" but I'm not 100% convinced by this.

Any light shed on this would be greatly appreciated!

neutral  philgoddard: I'm not convinced this is a real concept - it gets very few relevant hits, even as one word.

non-resistant

Explanation:
I am not familiar with the use of polisensibile from personal experience, hence low CL.

A web search produces many instances of "S. aureus polisensibile" and "E. coli polisensibile". Staph aureus and E.coli are typical examples of bacteria which can be either very benign or very problematic, and it therefore seems that the meaning of polysensibile is in fact 'no resistance problems anticipated'.

In German medspeak, we simply called these bugs "sensible E.coli" and "sensible Staph. aureus", even if they are, by nature, not sensitive to each and any antibiotic. Accordingly, several instances of "non-resistant" can be found on the web.
