English translation: phenomenological identity

08:30 Feb 9, 2022
German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / psychiatry
German term or phrase: Ausdrucksgemeinschaft
And another one ( last one) from this psych report:

"Eine psychoreaktive und eine neurologische Entität haben hier zumindest eine starke Ueberlappung, wenn nicht gar, im Sinner von iktor von Weizsäcker, eine weitgehende phenomänologische "Ausdrucksgemeinschaft".

I have:
At the very least, there is a strong overlap between the psychoreactive and neurological entities here, but possibly even an extensive phenomenological "joint expression", a concept introduced by Viktor von Weizsäcker.

Admittedly, I do not know what I just wrote.

Thanks!

You might also consider "phenomenological commonality".

shared manifestations

Explanation:
Psychoreactive and neurological entities will exhibit at least a strong overlap, if not a wide range of shared phenomenological manifestations

neutral  Anne Schulz: While I like "shared manifestations", I am not sure if "a wide range of shared manifestations" is really stronger (as demanded by "if not") than "strong overlap"

-> I can fix that: "Psychoreactive and neurological entities will exhibit at least a strong overlap, if not largely shared phenomenological manifestations."

co-articulation

Explanation:
> eine weitgehende phenomänologische Ausdrucksgemeinschaft : a wide-ranging phenomenological approach to co-articulation (ought to trip off the tongue)

Example sentence(s):
  • co-articulation : a scientific explanation consists of the identification of basic entities and the mechanism whereby these entities are interrelated to generate a given phenomenon.

Reference information:
https://www.thieme-connect.com/products/ejournals/abstract/1... might be helpful. Compare the two versions:

"Die coenästhetische Symptomatik kann, da sie sowohl bei idiopathischen Psychosyndromen als auch bei organischen Hirnaffektionen gleichermaßen auftreten kann, als substratnah zugeordnet werden und ist ein bezeichnendes Beispiel für die partielle Ausdrucksgemeinschaft zwischen der neurologisch-psychopathologischen Übergangssymptomatik."

"Cenesthetic symptoms can be considered as substrate-close because they can be part of idiopathic psychosyndromes and also of organic brain lesions. Therefore they could be allocated as a typical example of the possible phenomenological identity or overlap of neurological and psychopathological symptomatology."

You seem to be looking for "phenomenological identity" in this context.
