This telescope...amb un refractor equatorial doble" (see previous question)

Enabled our hero to "inicià a la Península treballs micromètrics d'estrelles múltiples"

Which means?

More help from stargazers needed. And may they name a comet after you... as long as it is not the one that's going to do a dinosaur job on us all ;-)

English translation:Micrometric measurements of multiple stars.
Explanation:
Please note two things here:
1. "multiple stars" does not mean many different stars in different locations! It means when a star has one or more star companions, and they orbit each other. One common name for the most common occurence of multiple stars is "binary star" (meaning two stars orbiting each other).
2. "Micrometrics" means to detect extremely small motions in a star (itself only a point of light in the sky) to infer the presence of a companion star. Most times these multiple star systems orbit so close together that it is extremely difficult to resolve the stars individually from earth. It is a job normally done by the Hubble space telescope. But now with the upcoming "adaptive optics" technology earth-based telescopes are beginning to perform Hubble ST caliber feats!

I love Astronomy, myself!

Good luck.

micrometric work

Explanation:
"inicià a la Península treballs micromètrics d'estrelles múltiples"

It means that he was the first person in the Iberian Peninsula (i.e. the first Spaniard; modern-day Catalans have a range of stealthy ways to avoid using the word "Espanyol" or "Espanya" for political reasons, usually resorting to Peninsular, a la Península, Ibéric, etc.) to perform micrometric work involving multiple stars.
