'Oddly' enough, hive-off had been the term of choice at the FT Euro-business *spin-off* magazine I used to edit.

Even more oddly, nothing is showing up in Bailey's Fagordbog for business & finance, but I don't have access to Gyldendal or Bo von Eyben...
