Danish term or phrase: med aaben foed
From a 1706 probate record in Helsingør: "1 fire kanted Aske Bord med aaben foed." I understand this item is a four-sided (rather than round or oval) table made of ash wood, but I'm not sure exactly what "med aaben foed" means. With open feet? What am I missing here?

”Bordfødder” and ”bordben” are used interchangeably:

English translation: open frame

Text example:

”With the table frames, you have the choice between an open and a closed frame.”

Explanation:
I found 'foed' mentioned in Ordbog over det danske sprog:

Sylvius.Geom.6.'

It seems 'foed' (an old spelling of 'fod') may sometimes have been used in the meaning of 'ben'.

One can find various tables with 'open leg' online.
