Explanation:
Surveyors used to measure distance in terms of chains. 100 links = 1 chain. The surveyors (of more than a century ago) literally used a chain (which had 100 links) to measure the required distance. There is one area in Australia which was incorrectly measured because the surveyor had not noticed that about 20 links had been lost from his chain!

Explanation:
