They use RELEASE(D) IN SOME WEIRD WAY IN THIS DOCUMENT.

I think the original text was in German, and then translated into English.
Any idea what the German word was...?

Explanation:
"Release" is a common term in business management software. From what I understand, it's the final action in the creation process of an item (e.g. an invoice), where it goes from a draft to an actual post.

The exact process will depend on the type of item, system and workflow, but it can also include "approval," so be cautious with using "godkänna" as a translation of "release."

In invoice processing, for example, it's the action of making an invoice available for payment. The workflow may include invoice entry, approval and release, upon which it goes to payment and accounting. When released, it can no longer be deleted or edited.

See for example: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26401_01/doc.122/e49079/T178714T...

The equivalent term in Swedish seems to be "frisläppa." Similarly to English, it's used with many types of items. See for example: https://community.visma.com/xqnef94594/attachments/xqnef9459...

Example sentence(s):
  • You can review each draft invoice before you approve and release it for billing.
  • Leverantörsfakturan är godkänd, väntar på kontering och frisläppning (bokföring)

neutral  Joakim Braun: If terms are used by large enough companies, they become entrenched. "Frisläppa" is certainly translatorese, but it's out in the wild now...
