Japanese term or phrase: 呪いを抱いた
Dear ProZ members,

I have a question about the use of the verb 抱く in the following sentence:
殺されて呪いを抱いた猫たちの魂

A man in a cartoon killed a lot of cats, and so it is doomed for eternity together with the cats' souls.
Does this mean that the cats received a curse from being killed or that they cast a curse on the assassin?

Thank you so much!

English translation:Embraced the curse
Explanation:
It's not clear if they cast it, but I believe the cats souls also welcomed the curse, as it gave them the opportunity to get back at the assassin and torment him for eternity.
