Explanation:
The directors do not rotate on-the-spot but, in E&W lawspeak, retire or are replaced by rotation. They might be described as alternate members number 1,2, 3 etc., but I can't recall the exact wording.

Ref 1 explains, in English, the numerical alternative board member system used in a College in Colombia. Although this may seem rather distant it does use the term in a logical way.
Ref 2 is a Norwegian Government use of "numeriske varamedlemmer"in a similar academic context
