Explanation:
That's what I used to say a couple of years ago. (I am German.)Alternatively I said:
"Ich trinke keinen Alkohol. Ich will nämlich gern meine Gehirnzellen noch ein bißchen behalten."
This is the more casual version.

I rather use the German expression 'behalten' (keep) instead of 'verlieren' (lose) because the affirmative statement just sounds better.
