English term or phrase: circular argument
Bonjour,

Je comprends l'idée que les débats tournent en rond, qu'il s'agit d'un cercle vicieux, mais je n'arrive pas à le formuler.
Merci d'avance. Contexte : crise dette souveraine en Europe

This sounded to the market like a preview of what could be needed for the overall sector, and sent around estimates of additional capital needs ranging from €50 to €90bn. This creates a circular argument on the potential additional burden for the Spanish government and sent the 10 year reference Spanish rate above 6% for most of the month.

ou 'raisonnement circulaire', si tu preferes...

L'original est en latin, 'circulus in probando'.

cercle vicieux

Explanation:
Cette potentielle charge supplémentaire (les 50-90 milliards) pour le gouvernement entraîne le pays dans un cercle vicieux et son taux à 10 ans a ainsi dépassé les 6 %.

retour au point de départ

Explanation:
Comme on parle de difficulté financière supplémentaire pour l'Espagne, on retournerait au point de départ

Example sentence(s):
  • Cela crée un fardeau fiscale supplémentaire et nous ramène au point de départ.
