paramento

Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Architecture
Spanish term or phrase: paramento
This is from a book on "architecture without architects". I originally translated it last November, and now the author has made some changes in the original prior to it being published.

The author originally used the word "muro" twice, but changed one to "pared" and the other to "paramento". I need to make the distinction between the two in English; "wall" will do for "pared", but I am at a loss about how to translate "paramento" in order to reflect the distinction the author obviously wants to make.

additional/new wall (or extension)

Explanation:
The writer refers to it as a wall further on, and as it is not a partition, I'd suggest using one of these terms that indicates new construction.

outer wall

Explanation:
Another option; this way you could distinguish between "inner wall" (pared) and "outer wall" as required.
