Spanish term or phrase: ten un gesto
I'm not familiar with this expression, is it something like "lend a hand"? It appears in a slogan for an environmental event in Spain:

Ten un gesto con tus espacios naturales

Thanks!

Thank you. I had to go with one with the word "gesture" in it as later on in the text it came out that people were actually making a gesture with their hands in solidarity. So good job.

neutral  Lisa McCarthy: I don't really understand where 'fare' comes into it. This would work if they were talking about taxi sharing perhaps.// The first 2 refs in Linguee are incorrect translations! The expression is 'do your fair share'.

do your bit for

Explanation:
By "popular demand"! But, seriously, I still feel it sounds rather wimpish, and have been scratching my head to come up with somehting a but pzazzier. But to no avail.

So there it is, in the sense of "do your duty by", "doing the right thing by". I suppose it is appealing to our sense that it is our responsibility, or reminding us that this is the case.

On the other hand, there is a section on Radio 5 on Spanish radio which has a catchphrase "haz gestos"; this might be resonate for Spanish readers of course. In this context it would be something like *every little helps*, which I do thing is an alternative.

Ten un gesto con tus espacios naturales.
Help preserve our green spaces.

Explanation:
Or:
Help preserve Spain's green spaces.
[Or substitute specific region/city where the campaign in question is being conducted.]

This would seem to be an idiomatic slogan appropriate to a fundraising or other event promoting environmental conservation. The "our" adds a needed emotional element.

Suerte.

Addendum:
The "our" here being a more natural sounding functional equivalent of the "tus" used in the Spanish.

I don't think that any of the literally oriented suggestions for translating "ten un gusto" really work in English. At worst, they sound highly stilted. At best, they seem just "not quite right."
