Tenuous/debatable/contentious Explanation: I agree with Edward: it would depend on the context in which it appears. I would suggest something along the lines of: The argument is tenuous/debatable/contentious. Normally lawyers refer to the veracity and robustness of facts and arguments. Arguments which are not robust could be referred to as tenuous, debatable, or contentious. Kind regards, Jack |
