Solo quiero estar segura de si esto sencillamente se refiere a su sueldo y puedo colocar "earns xxx dollar per month" o si se tiene que expresar de alguna otra manera.

Io creo que es interessante preguntarle al cliente si el trabajo es por contrato fijo o no. Puede que eso sea un valor medio, en el tiempo que esté actual el contrato. Una vez que se termine la consultoria, no habrá mas ganancias. Talvez puedes usar lo que sugeres. Si no, puedes usar la sugerencia que he dejado.

agree  Marcelo González: I've often thought of a 'retainer' as payment in advance to 'retain' (or have access to) the services, but according to the source you've cited it appears that's just one type of 'retainer,' i.e., the 'pay for access' one.
