bogged (as in "bogged us down") Explanation: Some of this depends on the intentions of the author, since I must admit that even in Spanish the collocation seems a bit ambiguous. With that said, "borrachera" and the sense of "bogged down" go well together, and could explain the reason behind the apparent anger of the friend under the influence of alcohol.
