Conviene entonces tratarla como una huella dactilar, que se usa cuando una persona no tiene firma o no puede firmar. Al ser un reemplazo de la firma y al usar el término "[Illegible]" para esta, creo que se podría usar también para las huellas plantares. Claro está que si quieres ser más precisa, tu alternativa también es adecuada.
