J'ai toujours appelé ça comme ça, je ne sais pas s'il y a un autre terme.
C'est quand le crochet de la canette se bloque, en général (fil trop gros, fil présentant une élasticité comme le fil à chaussures qu'on trouve par ici, etc.)

Même en étant particulièrement méticuleux les fils peuvent s'emmêler dans la ouatine sous le tissu et provoquer l'arrêt de la machine.

conscientious = consciencieux

Mais on parle plutôt de "méticuleux" en parlant de travaux manuels.
