General Treasury of Social Security Explanation: Other options provided here are very unnatural and will immediately be perceived as errors by native English speakers. 1) "General Treasury of the Social Security" is grammatically incorrect. No native speaker would ever put an article there. The reader will immediately notice they are reading a (poor) translation. 2) "Social Security Treasury General" is an excessively long compound. Compounding is generally avoided in formal writing. It's something a lot of Spanish-speaking translators like doing because it's exotic to them, but it's something English-speakers avoid in formal writing because it's a more informal, spoken register. At the same time, using "General" as a postpositional adjective is formal to a fault and sounds arcahic, and is generally avoided by modern government agencies as an unnecessary gallicism. Hence: "General Treasury of Social Security" is the simplest, most idiomatic option. |
