I am sure this is easy but I am getting more than a little confused due to the plethora of differnt terms used by XIII century monks!

El más importante era el “Libro de cuentas” (AHN, Clero, libro 23). Se divide en dos partes donde van haciéndose los apuntes de forma simultánea. En la primera se recogen las entradas, que se van incorporando mes a mes, expresando su procedencia. Los apuntes, desde marzo de 1718, los hizo el síndico. En la segunda parte, se registran los gastos o salidas. Entre tales entradas y salidas, se incorporaban cuentas que daban razón de la diferencia de ambas, generándose alcance a favor del convento, en caso de saldo positivo, o a favor del síndico, en caso de saldo negativo, quedando el convento provisionalmente deudor de éste. El síndico era el encargado de la Tesorería y debía apuntar las entradas y salidas en dinero; guardaba los fondos excedentarios y prestaba al convento en caso de ajuste negativo.

Explanation:
It is hard to imagine a business type arrangement in such times. Although it may be possible that some of their earnings comes from sales, it is highly probable that any other entry comes from donations, thereby the term indicated.
