Nacida en Tucumán en 1934 y afincada en Buenos Aires desde su adolescencia, con sus prendas de corte sastreril y la fusión de textiles clásicos con chaguas, picotes, ao po'i y barracanes de los pueblos andinos, esta “antropóloga de la moda” –como la bautizó Felisa Pinto– no solo se transformó en un ícono del vestir nacional, sino en la abanderada de un estilo propio: el glam criollo.

agree  Rebecca Breekveldt: Since the designer is from the north of Argentina, I would also be inclined to think she is referring to the woven material, chaguar. It is increasingly being used as a design element on hats, shoes, belts, bags, hair accessories, earrings, etc.
