Spanish term or phrase: arrebol
This seems to refer to a particular shade of red:

The text is about the childhood experiences of a major 20th-century artist.
It seems to have to do with the red of low cloud at sunset...Orange-red?

agree  Chema Nieto Castañón: Arrebolado would rather be a reddish glow than a sunset red... Not such an easy one, really. And I would use "reddish glow" rather than "red glow" to refer to (rojo) arrebolado.

-> thanks, many sunsets that I have seen could easily be described as having a "reddish glow"
