Spanish term or phrase: la pulsión escópica
Work by an Argentine artist:

Though I vaguely remember the term from college in the 80s, "optical drive" on the internet is now all about electronics! Makes me think I am misremembering, or have been left behind, or both!!

Scopophilia: an aesthetic pleasure drawn from looking at an object or a person (Freud)

Explanation:

the visual imperative

Explanation:
> la pulsión - drive, Diccionario Mosby de Medicina, SPA/ENG/SPA

Having been weaned on Prof. Sigmund Freud, Wilhelm Reich, Theodor Adorno, Erich Fromm and Melanie Klein etc., I am afraid or afeard in Irish that the literal rendering as 'scopic drive' means aboslutely nothing to me.

Example sentence(s):
  • APOLLINAIRE'S 'LE LIVRE' AND THE VISUAL. IMPERATIVE. In 917 Guillaume Apollinaire published thirteen handwritten visual poems
